Founded as a small building supply company by Don Stewart four decades ago, Igloo has since become an umbrella group, specializing in interior-exterior construction products and the manufacture of roof and floor trusses, wall panels, custom crates and cold climate windows.

Helping others like we'd help our own family.

Barry Stewart ran 32 kilometres. He kept running because so many people were supporting him and a $20,000 contribution to Kids with Cancer depended on his finishing. Establishing in 1979, the Kids with Cancer Society helps provide programs to children diagnosed with cancer and their families, making the frightful experience just a little more manageable. Kids with Cancer also supports various research efforts. And Igloo Building Supplies, with Barry at the helm, supports Kids with Cancer.

Dreams take flight.

Children with disadvantaged backgrounds are just as important to the Igloo Building Supplies Group. We know that giving back is the greatest joy and so we’re proud to support Dreams Take Flight Edmonton. In May 2006, 126 mentally, socially and physically challenged kids, nominated by area social agencies, will take flight to DisneyLand. And it’s all made possible by the contributions of companies like Igloo Building Supplies.

Taking part in history

In 1999 the Fort Edmonton Foundation dared to dream of expanding its operations to provide a more comprehensive and self-sustaining monument to history. Igloo Building Supplies was there to help – donating over $300,000 worth of building supplies and $10,000 a year for operating costs for five years.  The Blatchford Field Air Hangar was completed in May 2000 representing for all Edmontonians our role in aviation history.

With 2005 came Fort Edmonton’s 1920s Midway & Exhibition Project to which Igloo Building supplies has proudly donated $50,000.

Bringing hearts together

Nothing keeps a body going like the heart, and nothing keeps a business running like the heart of its people. Igloo Building Supplies helps keep both beating with a $200,000 donation to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute on the University of Alberta Campus.
